Hugs Are In Order!!!

This past week has been a mad scramble with Zac and I (and Elliot of course) all busily scurrying about; working to keep all of the plates spinning in the air as we work toward our Earthship build in the Spring.  We were both feeling utterly overwhelmed mid-last week as we have been juggling Zac's full-time job, his class schedule, my 2 part-time jobs, working to prep our rental property to be sold, scheduling and making pick-ups for various building items, obtaining temporary electric at our site, maintaining a household, having fun with our son, finding time to maintain our vehicles, etc., etc. (you get the picture...).  Zac and I were both feeling the stress quite a bit last Thursday and perhaps fueled by our negativity, the following day we both came down with what was a pretty debilitating stomach virus that rocked our household; rendering me completely useless and leaving Zac to operate on a quarter of a tank while taking care of our son.

We couldn't believe it!  After all, with all that we have on our plates, we should be immune to such disasters, shouldn't we (bahaha)?!  We both felt so frustrated by the fact that our progress was halted for one full day (as we can accomplish quite a bit in a 24-hour span of time) but people in our lives turned our momentary lapse of positivity around within a day of being hit by the virus and other negative forces.

Zac's mom, Claudia, helped Zac with Elliot on Friday and his brother, John, helped him with pick-ups on Saturday morning and afternoon.  Fortunately, it was only a 24-hour bug and our little guy some how managed to escape unscathed and healthy as ever!  Not only did family pitch in and lend a helping hand, but some of our new friends from Craigslist and Freecycle ads lifted our spirits by sharing some items for our build and offering words of excitement and support about our future Earthship.  And to cap off the weekend, a friend stopped by and helped Zac work on the rental and shared a meal with us last evening.

This last week was the first week of many to come, I'm sure, that we both felt less than optimistic.  However, I must say, it didn't last long as the people surrounding us and encouraging us lifted our spirits without even knowing it was much needed and sent us off on our merry way with an extra dose of spring in our step!  We may only have 19 weeks till we move to the land but we are doing everything in our power to make this all happen and can do nothing but push forward and try to enjoy each step along this epic journey.

We cannot thank everyone enough who has rallied around us so far as your emails, texts, phone calls, and in-person words of support have helped remind us why we are doing what we're doing.  The chaos we are experiencing now (and will likely continuously experience for the next year or so) will be worth it in the future when we are able to spend much more time together as a family; engaging in activities that directly support our day-to-day lives.  Big hugs to everyone surrounding us; we wouldn't dare take this road without you!
