Check, check, check!
Approximately 23 weeks left to go and we have had a very productive past two weeks! Since I last posted, we have checked off (or partially checked off) many of the items in "phase 1" of our to-do list for our Earthship build... here's what we've done:
Purchase a 40 ft. shipping container and have it delivered to the landCHECK!Bring all of theitems that have already been donated to the land and place in shipping container 1/8th of the way CHECKED (approximately 8 more truck loads to go...)Re-roof the garage at our current home to prepare it to be rentedCHECK!Finish designingour Earthship (Draft 1) in Google SketchUp partially CHECKED (still have roof and south facing window side to complete)Send our first draft design to our consultants to review (more on our consultants, Jay and Annie fromBlue Rock Stationin future posts... they are lovely!)CHECKED (awaiting comments on what we have so far as well as info on how to design the roof and south facing window side of the Earthship)- Revise Earthship design as needed
- Have our Earthship design reviewed by an architect and/or engineer if needed
- List our rental property for sale... (FYI: it is a charming 2 bedroom, 1 bath home near the Oregon District, University of Dayton, etc. that will be aggressively priced for the Dayton, OH area... message me if you're interested!)
Unloading the GORGEOUS slate we were given by a lovely couple in West Alexandria... so many possibilities about where we can use this in our home!
Our storage container!!!
Crazy to think that this one truck load only made the tiniest of dents in this HUGE shipping container. However, I'm thinking this one is going to be filled up before we know it!
Brrrr...
The corner of our basement... every box is TOTALLY filled with wine bottles, beer botles, cans, plastic bottles, etc. that were saved up by neighbors, family and friends thus far. These will be some of our future walls!
Despite all the scurrying about we've been busy with, we still had a super fun family day yesterday at EnterTrainment Junction in West Chester, OH... so fun!
