Earthship... Draft 1

So, we are currently at a standstill with our Earthship design in Google SketchUp because we are in the final stages and are unsure how to proceed without some expert assistance.  Expert knowledge notwithstanding, Zac so skillfully constructed our first draft with Elliot at his side while I was at work last night.  I'm thinking that this should suffice for the purposes of obtaining a building permit through Greene County Building Department... don't you?

An aerial view of our land with our Earthship on it...  This is what we will submit to the Greene County Building Department to obtain our permit ;)

Zac's truck and trailer on our long driveway to the Earthship... he's busy hauling all the building supplies that have been donated by the lovely people we've met so far!

The north-side of the Earthship complete with a mini-berm and a peek at our solar panels on the roof

This is a picture of our micro-cabin, an attached dog dwelling, Elliot's play area, our future goats (though these sheep so generously agreed to stand in place of our future goats) and giant turtle (?!)

This is a view of the south-facing side of the Earthship with Winston guarding the East entrance

A view of the West side of the property... note the "storage container" located at the edge of the driveway

Come to think of it, we may need something a bit more substantial for building permit application purposes but pats on the back are certainly in order for Zac and Elliot for creating such a realistic depiction of our future home.  We hope to complete our more serious, less colorful version of Draft 1 within the coming weeks and will post it once we have!  Have a wonderful Thanksgiving all!

  1. I absolutely love it!!! It's adorable and I think you should submit for the permits just to see what they say. I really love it. And I can't wait to see the real thing in the future. Just love reading your updates, you are so creative in your writing. You have a Great Thanksgiving!
